challenge
Challenge.
This city is one of the most important tourist centres in Argentina. Over 150 thousand peoplefrom around the world visit every year. Surrounded by snow capped mountains and located
outside a large and beautiful lake like Nahuel Huapi, this town has an overpopulation most of the year. During the summer months the town is known for its hiking and varied physical activities that can be performed, such as mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing and other sports. In the winter month it becomes one of the most popular ski resorts of all Latin America.
After many years of praying for a base to be established in Bariloche, God called Patricia Segovia to take on this challenge. Patricia Segovia, has been a full-time worker in Youth With A Mission since 2002.
For four years now she has been working in Bariloche, receiving teams in their practical time, conducting camps, and working with churches.
When they started looking for a place that could be a venue for YWAM Bariloche, they met with many impressing possibilities.
Until one day they discovered “Las Vertientes”(“The Watershed”)-a hostel.
Las Vertientes
Built by its owner Charles Boettcher, a German man who thought of every detail of the construction making full use of the natural resources that it provides. He designed and equipped the place with many devices that enable energy savings, thus reducing costs drastically. Like how to obtain fresh water from a spring, two ways of heating water- depending on the number of people present-, central heating with an efficient design, light sensors that automatically turn on and off. It has a very large kitchen, dining area for more than 60 people, 10 rooms with private bathrooms and 10 rooms currently under construction but with their own bathrooms and 2 apartments. Las Vertientes would be the ideal place both for its size, location and the recognition it has from the citizens and tourists of the place, giving us the opportunity to continue to host or use facilities such as the dining area as a restaurant so that we can reach many with the Gospel of Christ.
At first the owner seem sceptical about the sale of the hostel, but after three days of praying for this place, he contacted the Mission and was very interested in the work of YWAM and has expressed his desire to sell the property to the Mission including two lands attached to the hostel, which in the beginning were not included in the sale.
Las Vertientes is virtually all that is needed.
As a mission we believe God has a purpose with this hostel, as it is impossible to get a place like this and for that price so low in Bariloche.
We spoke to Don Carlos (the owner) and his wife, we told them that God had spoken to us and that this is the place, and he told us that they want to enjoy their families and live their last years peaceful.
This hostel has all that we need to work as Mission: Missionary School performances, to be able to receive teams for the work in the city and surrounding space, to work with churches and use it to extend His kingdom to the people who come as tourists. This letter is sent to you to be part of the challenge we have as YWAM Bariloche (group, Delfina Guzmán, Yanina Jaramillo) help us to pray and if God speaks to you to support us with finance to purchase this site please contact us by the addresses given below. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this letter and share with others God’s blessings, peace.
